While reputable polling (like this one from U of H Hobby School of Public Affairs) showed Whitmire with a slight edge over Sheila Jackson Lee, the results from November 7th suggest that the gap between the candidates is wider than suspected. But questions about voter fatigue and availability remain for both candidates. With that in mind, there is enough evidence to suggest that John Whitmire will be the next mayor of Houston.
